Open the Route PlannerAround Oberstdorf
With roughly 140 km of winter hiking trails, Oberstdorf has one of the Alps largest offers of hiking tours. The charming town of Oberstdorf and the wide meadows around it invite you to follow its tracks through the deep snow. Always in your sight: the magnificent snow-covered backdrop of the Allgaeu Alps.
The routes also take you through the small town parts of Rubi, Reichenbach, Schöllang, Kornau and Tiefenbach.
A special destination of the region is the mighty gorge "Breitachklamm", where the cold turns the small rivulets into a beautiful ice landscape.
Around the "Hörnerdörfer"
More than 50 km of winter hiking trails are prepared around the "Hörnerdörfer" (villages at the foot of the Hörner mountain range) every year. A special highlight is the "Höhenwanderweg" in Bolsterlang, which offers a fantastic view over Illertal, Grünten and the Allgaeu Alps.
If the snow is not too high, the tour to the "Riedberger Horn" is a perfect winter hike with a short ascent to a mountain peak with fantastic views.
In case you prefer to stay in the valley, you will find numerous marked hiking trails around the Hörnerdörfer Balderschwang, Bolsterlang, Fischen, Obermaiselstein and Ofterschwang.
Around Bad Hindelang
There is a lot to discover in Bad Hindelang. If you are looking for a great view, you should take a hike on the Bad Hindelanger mountain trail. It takes you through the "Zillenbachtobel" up to the "Luitpoldhöhe" to "Café Polite". Fantastic views to "Imberger Horn", "Hirschberg" and the Allgaeu Alps are included.
Around Immenstadt and Sonthofen
High above the lake "Alpsee" lie the "Siedelalpe" and the "Jugetalpe", two mountain huts which invite you to a refreshment stop in winter. From the parking at "Schlettermoos", a small moorland landscape that is beautifully frozen on cold days, you climb up to the two huts. When the weather is good, you can look far into the Alps and down to Immenstadt and the Alpsee.
A more demanding hike leads through the wintry gorge "Starzlachklamm". There, sure-footedness and alpine experience are necessary, because snow and ice make the ascent difficult.
For those who don't like it so icy, there is the "Oberrieder Sonnenrunde", which mostly leads south of Sonthofen past the castle ruins of Fluhenstein and the "Oberrieder Kapelle".
