Turn-by-turn directions
Follow the footpath along the railway to Brückenstraße street, then turn left towards the pharmacy and follow Brückenstraße street to the B 54 street. On the right-hand side is the "Nassauer Hof", a former restaurant from the 18th century, where the stagecoaches to "Langen-Schwalbach" also stopped from 1835. When you cross the B 54 street, you will see the building of the "Obermühle", formerly called "Burgmühle", on the left. The 14th century castle became a moated castle in the 18th century and is now inhabited again. Follow the Hohlenfelsbachstraße street to the green cutting area and take the path on the left into the Hohlenfelsbachtal valley (to the right of the creek). At the junction above the insect hotel, change to the left side, past the "Phoenix Hut", follow the nature discovery trail to the tarred road to the Hohlenfels domain. Here, take the road to the right. The former state domain is on the right and Hohlenfels Castle, built in the 14th century and repeatedly altered, towers mightily on the left. Today it is lovingly preserved by Hanns Hemann. Once you reach the edge of the forest, it is worth looking back at the castle and the valley. The equestrian farm is on the right. At the crossroads at the farm, turn right and follow the forest path towards the valley for about 200 metres. Then follow the "IVV-Wanderweg" markings to the left into the forest. The path at Welschmischelkopf joins Schönbornerstraße street, passes the old Hirschel quarry and reaches Hohlenfelsbachstraße street at the green cutting area. Return along the road or once again into the Hohlenfelsbachtal valley to then switch to the left side of the creek at the insect hotel to hike towards the village. The path joins the Heidebergweg street above the Obermühle.
