A real insider tip among free-riders is the 6 km long descent to the 1833 m high Hochgrat in the Nagelfluh chain. The starting point for the subsequent 860 m run can be reached with the Hochgratbahn. Once at the top, there is a fantastic panoramic view over the Allgäu to the Säntis in Switzerland.
One of the most popular freeride routes also lies on the Nebelhorn. It leads from the Edmund-Probst-Haus down the flat eastern slope for about 1,000 m through the valley basin to the Giebelhaus near Hinterstein. If you also want to enjoy a wonderful summit panorama, you should definitely start the short ascent to the Great Thumb.
For border crossers, the descent from Schlappoltkopf to Riezlern is worthwhile, as free-riders have the opportunity to ride in two countries at the same time. Via the Fellhornbahn you reach the mountain on the German side, after a short ridge hike you are already at the start at the Schlappoltkopf. The following descent runs over steep western slopes to Riezlern in the Kleinwalsertal in Austria.
