The train station in Balduinstein is ideally suited to either join the Lahn hiking trail or to explore the Schaumburg loop, which leads in a wide arc around Schaumburg Castle over a length of 4.2 km. The access route from the train station in Balduinstein to the starting point of the Schaumburg loop at the church is signposted. Thus, hikers can arrive and depart relaxed by train and start hiking directly from the station.
The train station of Balduinstein is a gem worth seeing. The late classicist building was designed by the Diez architect Heinrich Velde (1827-1905), who also designed numerous other buildings along the Lahn Valley Railway. Archduke Stephan Viktor, owner of the nearby Schaumburg Castle, initiated the construction of a representative reception building in order to be able to properly welcome his noble guests from all over Europe.
Today, the station of Balduinstein houses the very nicely designed coffee house Stellwerk, in front of it is the beer garden "Gleis 3".
Tickets are available at the ticket machine on the platform, in Diez also at the travel agency Hild, Rosenstr. 23 (Bahn-Agentur). Timetables for the Lahntalbahn (Koblenz-Gießen line) and other lines are available at the Tourist Information, Wilhelmstr. 63, Diez.
