At this open air museum visitors lern about the history of mining next to the mountain Grünten.

Around the distinctive peak of the Grünten, iron ore was mined and smelted from the 14th to the 19th century. At some days when actions for visitors take place, the true to the original recreated forge is still operating. At the large open air area you will find historic coal-fired power stations, a furnace and a bloomery. Visitors also enjoy watching movies about the historic mining at the Grünten.

On a guided tour together with mole "Grubi", we explore "Andreas-Tagebau" (an abandoned strip mine) and the two ore mines "Theresiengrube" and the "Annagrube". Afterwards the restaurant "Knappenhock" invites you to enjoy food on the sunny terrace. Kids have fun during the scouting expedition "Erzgruben-Rallye" at the open air area and  enjoy the playing ground.
