The lake Großer Alpsee is situated in the region Allgäu, northwest of the town Immenstadt. It is the biggest natural lake in the area and a popular place for bathing, swimming, sailing and surfing.

Next to Bühl, visitors can find a nice beach promenade and a lawn for sunbathing. There are other suitable places for bathing, for example, close to Trieblings and next to the road B308. Several times a year, sailing regattas take place on the lake. The wind carries both sailboats and windsurfers in thunderous speed over the waters surface. In spring you can even expect wind force 7!

The Großer Alpsee is 3,28 km long, has a latitude of 1 km and a total area of 2,47 km². Its deepest point lays 22,7 m under the water surface. The lake is mainly fed by the river Konstanzer Ach, but several other rivers provide water to the lake too. There is a smaller lake in the west of the Großer Alpsee, lake Teufelssee, and in the east, you can find lake Kleiner Alpsee.
