Freibergsee

Nowadays, the "Freibergsee" near Oberstdorf lies in quiet solitude. Once upon a time, however, there used to be a beautiful, fertile meadow, which belonged to two young ladies. They lived in constant quarrels because of this property. One day, they were busy on the meadow with harvesting hay. Because she hated the work one of the ladies spoke a curse: "I wished that the whole meadow lowered and was flooded with water!" The following night, a terrible thunderstorm arose and the meadow sank into the depths. In the morning, the meadow had been replaced by lake, and the remains of the harvested hay were still floating upon the water's surface.
