Hikes in the Oberallgäu

If you are hiking through the Allgäu Alps, you should take one of the region’s many panorama trails. While the "Grünten" might not be the highest peak of the Oberallgäu, it is most certainly one of its most distinctive.

The tour leading over the "Sonnenköpfe" offers a spectular view from the rocky peaks over the alpine upland. If you want to avoid the challenging climb of the "Hörner Panoramatour", you can take the lift. Several mountain huts provide opportunities for refreshment.

The tower at the viewpoint "Alpkönigblick" above Missen and Diepolz provides a stunning sight of the entire Iller Valley.

Hikes through the nature park "Nagelfluhkette" provide a special natural experience. Various landscapes provide room for a great diversity of species. Due to the altitude, hiking trails lead along the most beautiful sights with impressive panorama views over the Allgäu Alps and the Bregenz Forest.

The Oberallgäu’s deep gorges and ravines provide welcomed refreshments during hiking tours on hot summer days. Over several centuries powerful masses of water forced their way through the "Breitachklamm" and thus created Mid-Europe’s deepest gorges. Inside the "Starzlachklamm", you will find another well-prepared walking path.

There are many outdoor offers for hikers in Oberallgäu – even for ambitious athletes. The hike from "Schrecksee" near Hinterstein that can be combined with the crossing of the "Rauhhorn" is among the most challenging, but also provides spectacular natural sights.

The "Nagelfluh ridge hike" that leads from "Hochgrat" to "Mittag" is conditionally and technically demanding, but rewards hikers with an impressive panoramic view.

In case you want to avoid exhausting hikes but do not want to miss the beautiful landscape, you can take the comfortable walk through "Breitachklamm" or "Starzlachklamm". Another highlight for hikers of all ages is the mythological path and the cave "Sturmannshöhle" near Obermaiselstein.

The "Erzgruben-Erlebniswelt" takes hikers through the history of mining at the "Grünten". The "Kuhnigundeweg" in Diepolz teaches visitors about the agricultural landscape of Oberallgäu and the life of local farmers.
