Although all Hörner villages have a large cross-country skiing network, Balderschwang, situated in a high valley at over 1000 m, stands out again from the other villages due to its abundance of snow.
Not only around the village there are modern, well-signposted cross-country ski runs, but the proximity to Hittisau in the Bregenzerwald means that the cross-country skiing fun in the DSV Nordic Active Center even crosses borders.
Cross-Country Skiing in the northern Oberallgaeu
You don't necessarily have to go as far as the southernmost Oberallgäu - there are also plenty of opportunities for cross-country skiers and skaters in the greater Kempten area to let off steam on mostly flatter cross-country trails and recharge their batteries in nature.
Between Buchenberg and Eschacher Weiher there is an extensive network of cross-country trails, but cross-country enthusiasts will also find what they are looking for around the markets of Altusried and Sulzberg. One of the more demanding tours, for example, is the Eschach competition trail, while the Wirlinger Wald trail is also suitable for beginners.
